While being present at the Boca West Country Club, we caught up with the institution's founder, Adam Golfberg, and asked him why feminism wasn't that popular of an ideology with his club members.

Adam claims that while rarely does he play golf, but when he does, he relishes and savours every minute of it. The game itself is very boring, hit the ball, walk, hit the ball again, walk; any sport where you can be an overweight, out-of-shape senior citizen and still be considered a professional at the game, that is not a sport! None-the-less, when he does get a chance to the play the game, he enjoys every moment of it.

The simple fact of being on a territory, surrounded by people of financial means, and not a single poor person within a 20 mile radius, already puts him in a jolly mood. And for those who have not had the opportunity to play this wonderful game, when you are on a golf course, there is usually a complex somewhere in the vicinity known as a “Country Club.” Put simply, the Country Club is a building that is usually filled with women who are the wives or girl-friends of the men who you are about to play golf with. And occasionally he likes to eavesdrop on their conversations, he knows it’s not polite but he's nosy.

And as he listens to them gossiping, these women talk about anything and everything, and one interesting thing that he noticed, of all the possible things that they could complain about, complaining about the patriarchy, is usually not one of them. And it’s not a stretch of the imagination to understand why.

Thanks to the patriarchy, these women drive very nice cars, live in very fancy houses, go on lavish vacations, take no spending limit shopping sprees, and can sit in a Country Club with their girlfriends getting plastered drinking wine at 11 am on a Tuesday because they don’t have a jobby job to go to. If Adam had to guess, not only do these women not have a problem with the patriarchy, as a matter of fact, he thinks they actually love it!

So when Adam hears a woman who claims to be a feminist fighting the patriarchy, that immediately tells him two things. One, she is obviously broke and two, not only is she broke, she has never had the opportunity to know what it’s like not to be broke. Because if she did, she’d be sitting in a Country Club with her girlfriends getting plastered drinking wine at 11 am on a weekday because she doesn’t have a jobby job to go to.
